The Dovecote Gallery and Studios is located in the idyllic surrounds of county Sligo in the West of Ireland. A converted agricultural building boasts drawing and painting studios, a pottery with commercial kiln and gallery space. This calm and tranquil setting inspires creativity in many forms. Art classes are offered in drawing, painting, ceramics and creative textiles amongst others. Artists' talks, masterclasses, music events and curated exhibitions run alongside these taught classes and, in time, we aim to introduce an artists' residency programme.
Ceramics, painting and drawing classes are led by Tessa Marsden who is a practicing ceramicist and painter. Tessa received BA Hons First Class in Fine Art in 2008 and in the same year was recipient of the John O’Leary award and the Governor’s medal for painting.
A diverse range of Creative Textile workshops are taught by Tessa's daughter Rebecca Marsden. Rebecca achieved a BA Hons First Class in Fashion Design from Limerick School of Art and Design. She has worked internationally with designers in London, Paris and New Delhi and was awarded 'Designer of the Year' as well as the overall 'Innovation Award' at the Irish Fashion Innovation Awards 2014. For the past 4 years the label has retailed in Brown Thomas as part of their seasonal Create project. Rebecca has a design studio in Sligo and lectures part time on the BA in Fashion, Textile and Design with Business Management course at St Angela’s College in Sligo.
Alongside the scheduled programme of classes, The Dovecote offers tailored classes for group bookings and individual tuition. Please get in touch if you would like to book a class, propose an event or curate an exhibition at The Dovecote.
